JOB OVERVIEW

The Franchise Development Manager plays a key role in growing and supporting a network of food service and grocery retail franchise operations. This role involves identifying new opportunities, building strong relationships with franchisors (e.g., BarBurrito, Shelby’s, Fresco), and ensuring operational excellence across all locations.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, results-driven professional with experience in food/grocery franchising, business development, and location rollout management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue franchise opportunities with leading food and grocery brands across Canada.
  • Lead the end-to-end process of launching new franchise locations: from initial contact with franchisors, to site selection, lease negotiation, build-out coordination, and grand openings.
  • Ensure franchisees meet brand standards, including food safety, customer service, operational procedures, and cleanliness.
  • Work closely with franchisors and real estate partners to find and evaluate high-traffic retail locations.
  • Provide ongoing operational support and training to franchisees, including onboarding, compliance, and performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop local store marketing strategies that drive foot traffic and sales.
  • Use Salesforce (or similar CRM) to manage franchise performance data, pipeline tracking, and reporting.
  • Act as the liaison between the operator and the franchisor, handling relationship management and issue resolution.
  • Support and oversee store renovations, expansions, or rebranding projects as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in food service, grocery retail, or franchise development
  • Strong understanding of QSR operations, food safety standards (e.g., Health Canada compliance), and customer service best practices
  • Proven ability to negotiate and build relationships with franchisors, landlords, and vendors
  • Experience with project management and coordinating multiple openings simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to visit current and prospective locations
