Are you an experienced maintenance professional with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills? Do you enjoy solving complex equipment issues and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? SMP Automotive Systems Alabama is seeking skilled Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians to join our Maintenance Team. As a Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving a wide variety of production equipment to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated production equipment. * Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems. * Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment and assist with programming modifications when needed. * Install, maintain, and repair motors, conveyors, robots, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and other industrial equipment. * Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings. * Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and equipment modifications as required. * Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime. * Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and continuous improvement projects. * Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations. * Maintain accurate maintenance records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). * Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance. * Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment failures. * Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED required. * Technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred. * 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. * Strong electrical troubleshooting experience, including 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control circuits. * Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems. * Knowledge of PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred). * Experience with industrial robotics is a plus. * Welding and fabrication experience preferred. * Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and reach throughout the shift. * Lift up to 50 pounds regularly. * Work around moving machinery, electrical equipment, and industrial manufacturing processes. * Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting devices. * Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
