Are you interested in developing your administrative knowledge and skills within an expanding, innovative pathology/science-based laboratories which looks at the causes of cancer and effects of disease in pathological specimen.
The Histopathology department is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Band 4 MDM Coordinator to join the Synnovis Histopathology administrative team at several leading national NHS Foundation Trust. Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and King’s College Hospital based in Central London, with iconic views of the London Eye and Houses of Parliament.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, good team player and keen to develop their administrative and people skills through interaction with patients and fellow colleagues (both clinical and non-clinical) in support of our diagnostic service.
This office-based role is a patient focused role will give you the job satisfaction that comes from knowing we are putting patients first. You will be assisting a group of scientists/clinician who are experts in histology and pathology which provides an important service for the NHS.
This role is responsible for providing an effective multi-disciplinary meeting (MDM) co-ordination service within the Department of Histopathology as part of the Laboratory team in Synnovis. Reporting to the Tissue Sciences Management Team, you will hold a variety of responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of pathology services, in line with our corporate objectives.
The post-holder is responsible for providing an effective multi-disciplinary meeting (MDM) co-ordination service within the Department of Histopathology. This post is designed to act as the key support for MDM’s in the department, working together with the Histopathology office staff and laboratory staff. The post-holder will act as the main liaison point for clinical teams sending lists of patients to be discussed at MDM’s and also for the Histopathology medical staff. The post-holder will be responsible for receiving patient lists from various sources, assigning the relevant laboratory case number information and retrieving the cases to give to Consultant Pathologists in a timely manner, for them to subsequently present at the MDM. The post-holder is responsible for ensuring that the Consultant Pathologists have all the relevant case details prior to the meetings and are kept informed of any issues arising with sufficient notice. The post-holder will liaise with clinical teams and the departmental medical, office and laboratory staff to maintain and continually improve the MDM service provided by the department.

For now, the job you are applying for will be based at one of our hospital sites however, from 1 April 2024 our people and services will start to move to our Hub laboratory in Blackfriars, Southwark, SE1, with some work remaining in refurbished essential services laboratories across our hospital network, focusing on the rapid turnover of urgent tests.
