Description:

Location: Nicholas & Harris, Brunel Road, Churchfields Industrial Estate, Salisbury, SP2 7PU
Shift: 4 on, 4 off - 6am until 6pm
Salary: Competitive with Opportunities for Growth
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering team as a ‘Multi-Skilled Engineer’ at our Nicholas & Harris site as part of ‘Finsbury Food Group’. Nicholas & Harris has over 180 years of heritage in craft baking methods. If you like artisanal, organic and speciality breads, or have special dietary or nutritional preferences, our Salisbury bakery has you covered!
Our Multi-Skilled Engineers are responsible for carrying out all planned, preventative maintenance and swiftly reacting to breakdown events that occur throughout the Bakery. Living by our Finsbury Food Group values of Teamwork, Ownership, Communication, Honesty & Respect; you will work as part of the wider Engineering team on-site to ensure all corrective work orders are completed within business critical time frames on a regular basis reducing any risk to the operation of the Bakery.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to gain experience with one of the UK’s largest leading bakery businesses, along with great opportunities for growth and development. At Finsbury Food Group, we are passionate about investing in our teams, creating great progression opportunities from both a site and Group perspective.
To be a success in this role, you will be a qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer with previous experience working within a Food Manufacturing and/or processing environment. Although not essential, if you do possess ‘International Powered Access Federation’ (IPAF) training and an 18th edition certification, that would be great too!

Responsibilities:

As a ‘Multi-Skilled Engineer’, you will work as part of the wider Engineering Team to maintain a wide range of production equipment, as well as general maintenance and installation throughout the site. You will be required to regularly work on your own initiative demonstrating a confident approach to on-line fault finding and process development, reporting updates and issues to the Engineering Reliability Manager.
In order for us to consistently produce our products to each of our major retail customers; reducing any risk of elongated downtime in the Bakery will play a key part of your role, supporting our target of only 2% or below for any downtime in Production. You will need to be able to work under pressure demonstrating a solid problem solving attitude in a creative manner. You will be measured on ‘Planned Preventative Maintenance’ PPM and work order completion rates as well as Health & Safety work order completion rate.
We are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation and we are continuously seeking ways to better improve the business; we achieve this through ongoing continuous improvement and productivity improvement projects which you will have a heavy involvement in. To support with these projects, you will be required to deal with any unscheduled and emergency maintenance work, including all fault finding and necessary repair, striving to identify the root cause in each occasion.
A basic understanding of IT is essential as you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring all engineering maintenance is carried out in line with the planned preventative maintenance system; and booking the work undertaken with duration and materials used through our company ‘Computerised Maintenance Management System’ (CMMS).
You will be expected to comply with all company policy, including Health & Safety, Security and Hygiene standards to ensure we are consistently compliant in line with Food Safety Standards.
