JOB DETAILS

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a committed and skilled practitioner to join our new Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) team within Fife Council’s Children & Families and Justice Directorate as a Family Resource Worker.

MST-CAN is an intensive, evidence-based, community intervention designed to support families where children are at risk due to physical abuse and/or neglect. The programme works intensively with families over a 6–9 month period to:

  • Prevent re-abuse and neglect.
  • Reduce mental health difficulties in parents and children.
  • Increase natural social support networks.
  • Help children remain safely at home.

We are seeking a Family Resource Worker to support and assist the delivery of MST-CAN Interventions, working alongside MST-CAN therapists, and contribute to reducing the number of children and young people entering care.
You will promote, develop and sustain successful partnerships across Children and Families but also across other services/teams that ensure the inclusion of children, young people and families receiving treatment by working flexibly and managing their own diary.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist MST-CAN Therapists in assessing and conceptualizing referral behaviours, emerging problems and developing and implementing interventions using the MST Analytic Process.
  • Assist clients in practical needs such as housing, budgeting, job attainment, and prosocial recreational activities.
  • Support the collection of urine drug screens and/or breathalysers for parents or youths who are abusing substances.
  • Perform safety checks in collaboration with the MST-CAN Supervisor or MST-CAN Therapist, respond to emergencies, and implement crisis plans.
  • Build relationships and work effectively with colleagues from other disciplines and community stakeholders (i.e. Child Protection Services, legal advisers, judges, schools, etc.) to ensure cooperation among service providers.
  • Ensure case records are up to date and inputted in a timely manner providing reports for the MST-CAN Team and other agencies.Participate in all MST CAN training, supervision and consultation activities.
