Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Location: RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall & RAF Feltwell
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (7:30-16:30) with out of hours on call 1 in 4 weeks (maximum)
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity where you can showcase your technical skills and be part of something truly impactful?
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Multi-Trade Heating Engineer to join our team, supporting the USVF contract at RAF Lakenheath, Feltwell, and Mildenhall. This is your chance to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, ensuring essential services are delivered to over 10,000 US personnel and their families. With fighter jets soaring overhead and a bustling military community, this role offers both challenge and reward in equal measure.
As a Multi-Trade Heating Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and executing planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on oil and gas boiler heating systems in commercial buildings (including single occupancy dormitories), ensuring they remain fully operational and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring all assets are maintained in accordance with operational manuals, responding to reactive calls within contractual timeframes, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, COSHH, and safe working practices. In addition, you will play a key role in supervising contractors and sub-contractors, ensuring high standards are met while keeping all plant rooms and mechanical enclosures clean, safe, and secure.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
We are looking for someone with a recognized Mechanical or Engineering Apprenticeship, such as HNC, ONC, or City & Guilds, along with extensive experience working with commercial oil-fired boilers and heating systems.
Gas Safe certification, including LPG gas competence, is essential, along with a solid understanding of HVAC systems, fan coils, AHUs, and Building Management Systems (BMS). Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to read schematic diagrams, and knowledge of safe electrical isolation practices are also crucial to the role.
The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team while staying calm under pressure. Strong communication skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a willingness to undergo further training and participate in call-out rotas are essential.
