POSITION SUMMARY

The University of Denver is seeking a creative and skilled Multimedia Photographer. With a heavy emphasis on photography, this role involves conceptualizing, shooting and editing high quality photo and video content that supports marketing initiatives, student enrollment efforts, and campus life storytelling. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, manage multiple projects and deliverables, and adapt to shifting priorities with ease.
As the primary campus photographer, this role is responsible for noticing and capturing the visual moments that make DU a special place. In addition, this role will provide event coverage, capture, organize and distribute university headshots, and oversee the University’s digital asset management system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in professional editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe CC, After Effects)
  • Experience creating videos and motion graphics for social media advertising
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills and the ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form
  • Professional demeanor
  • Competency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment juggling multiple deadlines at once

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in photography, journalism, filmmaking, visual arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in videography, photography, and editing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with drone/UAV videography.
  • Familiarity with the Wrike project management system.
  • Animation skills working in related programs.
Responsibilities
  • Capture and produce high-quality multimedia content, with an anticipated split of 70% photography and 30% video, to support university marketing, enrollment and engagement efforts via visual storytelling
  • Ability to adapt photo/video capture style for various applications, including social media, editorial and commercial
  • Work with the Art Director and Director of Creative and Brand Management to establish a fresh, recognizable and consistent photo and video style for the university.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot photo and video equipment, including cameras, lenses, and lighting. Must be able to lift and transport heavy equipment to and from locations.
  • Edit photos and video footage using professional software to enhance narrative flow and visual impact.
  • Organize and maintain DU’s digital library of university photos, including campus scenic, faculty, staff, and student shots.
  • Host recurring headshot sessions for campus faculty and staff, as well as bespoke headshot sessions for senior leadership, and distribute final photos to attendees in a timely manner.
  • Plan and capture imagery for the University of Denver Magazine that visually enhances print and digital stories.
  • Provide photography coverage for special events, speaker engagements, campus happenings, and more, which may occur outside of regular business hours.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to accommodate requests for coverage as scheduling allows, with an understanding of visual goals and deliverables.
  • Capture authentic campus moments outside of planned shoots, consistently adding to DU’s digital asset library
  • Collaborate and communicate with marketing and communications team members to meet project requirements, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Manage production schedules, timelines, and multiple projects simultaneously.
