CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant hands-on experience (3+ years) in a similar role preferably in the carpentry/ plastering industry or product/systems testing industry preferred
  • Relevant qualification related to the building, engineering or plastering industries trade diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as Microsoft office and numerical skills required
  • Strong experience and knowledge of building construction practice/methodology including testing and validation preferred
  • Experience in testing laboratory environment highly regarded
  • Forklift License (Highly regarded but not essential)
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Multiskilled Tradesman Plasterer/Carpenter to join our Knauf Engineering team based in Pinkenba, Queensland. Knauf provides high quality internal linings, related products, and systems for residential and commercial construction, and is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual with some strong experience in systems testing as well as working in a highly dynamic environment.
Reporting to the Senior Engineer-R&D Lead, you will be responsible for the construction and testing of building systems and products, and the reporting of those results in a safe manner.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To perform duties, including construction and lab testing in a safe manner
  • Support and implement the PSD Lab Safety Plan
  • Construct specimens for structural, fire test programs at Pinkenba and at the sites of strategic testing facilities
  • Instrumentation of test specimens and performing tests to all relevant codes, standards and regulations
  • Evaluation and reporting of test results including drawings, graphs & written reports
  • Orderly retention of test results, reports and records, and of files as well as organise outside testing and certification for systems/products
  • Sourcing and ordering materials for testing and laboratory work and checking the accuracy of goods supplied. Raising requests for funding of laboratory equipment, plant and buildings
  • Achieve NATA signatory and manage NATA registration including; maintenance of calibration and test records of NATA registered equipment in conjunction with Senior Engineer-R&D Lead
  • Conduct internal/external customer technical training for new products and systems introduced into market
