Description Municipal Banking Associate DEPARTMENT: Municipal Banking LOCATION: 425 Main Street Catskill, NY 12414 REPORTS TO: AVP, Municipal Banking SUPERVISES: None GRADE: 11 FLSA: Non Exempt PAY RANGE: $22 - $26 per hour commensurate on education and experience POSITION SUMMARY: The Municipal Banking Associate is the primary front-line representative responsible for researching, analyzing and underwriting municipal bonds. In addition to bond work, the Associate will be creating a welcoming environment for customers by providing account and service origination and maintenance to new and existing customers in person and customer inquiries by phone. The Associate will provide support and assistance to staff and officers of the Municipal department. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Municipal Banking department with daily supervision and support of the department’s activity. Write, or review, system queries and/or periodic reports for team members or department. Collect and compile a list of municipal bond sales for the future sales. These lists would require producing preliminary underwriting data necessary for bid selection and data to support underwriting. Produce pre-purchase analysis on all municipal bonds purchased by the bank or commercial bank. Additionally, on all municipal investment securities a quarterly and annual review will be performed in conjunction and as outlined by the investment policy. Review of investment bond portfolio. Provide assistance as requested during audits and exams. Become familiar with Municipal and retail banking regulations and responsibilities related to each. Strong knowledge of banking products for Municipal services to effectively assist customers’ needs in opening accounts and required documentation. Service customers by opening new accounts, performing account maintenance, assist with online banking issues/questions, Magic Wrighter maintenance and support, credit card applications, and credit card processing support. Research and resolve customer issues, acting as the customer liaison between other bank departments when necessary. Maximize selling and referral opportunities within Department. Provide excellent customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealing with both customers and employees. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained. Assist Department with the review and maintenance of internal control logs and daily and monthly reports. Contribute to the fulfillment of the Department and Bank’s objectives and goals. Actively participate in training programs to maintain and acquire additional knowledge and skills. Acquire New York State Notary Licensing. Other duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree - business or finance preferred; or equivalent work experience in a related field Minimum of two years cash handling experience, prior banking experience preferred Good interpersonal, communication and computer skills Knowledge of computer operation and the ability to utilize the Bank’s software Must show initiative, reliability and team oriented attitude Strong ability to conduct relationships with customers that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank Detailed oriented, strong organizational skills and high degree of accuracy PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
