Job Description
AECOM is searching for a Municipal Engineer to be based in our Kelowna or Burnaby, BC office. The appropriately qualified candidate will have experience in civil engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and clients. They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. They will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.
  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities.
  • Perform constructability reviews.
  • Perform construction inspections.
  • Lead construction contract administration.
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents.

Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), P.Eng status in BC
  • 4+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, contract administration.
  • Valid BC Class V Driver’s License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of related experience with municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure.
  • Experience in proposal writing, scoping and project management
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit.
  • Experience in condition assessment of municipal infrastructure is a benefit.
  • Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities would be an asset.
  • Experience with trenchless technologies would be an asset
