Help drive the City of Kenora’s continued advancement by joining our team as a Municipal Engineer. In this key role, you will collaborate with developers and municipal staff to evaluate and approve a diverse array of development proposals ranging from new subdivisions and single-lot projects to large commercial, institutional, and industrial developments. You will help shape Kenora’s future by enhancing development standards, policies, and contributing to long-term Infrastructure Master Planning to meet the city’s evolving needs.
We are seeking a proactive individual who can anticipate challenges, analyze complex problems, and deliver thoughtful solutions with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (P. Eng.); out-of-province candidates must be eligible for licensure through Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in municipal engineering and/or infrastructure projects.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in project or contract management, ideally within the development or municipal sector.
- Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Solid knowledge of civil engineering practices, municipal project management, and development processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ESRI GIS software.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Planning Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Ability to manage confidential or sensitive matters discreetly and professionally.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with staff, stakeholders, and the public.
