Job Description
AECOM’s Water group is searching for a Municipal Engineer in the Conveyance sector of the Water business line. This role can be based out of any of our Greater Toronto and surrounding area offices.
The appropriately qualified candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in civil engineering and construction management principles as they relate to design and construction projects for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and clients. They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. They will be expected to support in the technical delivery of infrastructure to customers within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sectors.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical knowledge of water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.
  • Design experience of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater.
  • Perform constructability reviews.
  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Preparation of project specifications and contract documents.
  • Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Project management experience (including in an assistant/deputy role) is considered an asset.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) + 6 years of related experience with conveyance engineering, design, construction oversight
  • Experience with municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater conveyance infrastructure projects
  • Registered as P.Eng

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Training and experience in project management is a benefit.
  • Experience in proposal writing and job scoping is an asset.
  • Design of new conveyance systems or condition assessment or rehabilitation of existing conveyance systems would be an asset
  • Experience with MicroStation, Civil 3D, or AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Experience with trenchless technologies would be an asset.
