Position Summary: Reporting to the Supervisor, By-Law Enforcement/Municipal Prosecutor, this position is responsible for informing the public, business and other groups of the details of related by-laws and provincial legislation/regulations to build understanding. Enforcing and gaining compliance with municipal by-laws, Provincial legislation/regulations and monitor compliance of agreements between the Town and other parties. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Parking Enforcement: Enforce municipal parking by-laws by conducting routine foot and patrols throughout the Town; Utilizing reasonable judgment and discretion and decide whether to issue a charge in regard to violations of parking by-laws; determine the appropriate section of legislation for the parking charge; maintain accurate records. Provide substantiating evidence to enable a fair and reasonable decision to be made regarding the legality of a parking ticket, when necessary. Responding to parking complaints; maintain a record of all parking complaints and document occurrence reports. Attend court and provide substantiating evidence, when necessary, in regard to charges laid. By-Law enforcement: Provide by-law enforcement throughout Town by conducting routine vehicle, and foot patrols and monitor for non-compliance of Town by-laws. Maintain confidentiality of all actions, records and discussions undertaken during the administration and enforcement of all municipal by-laws. Respond to enquiries from members of the public by providing information, assistance and direction regarding the downtown area, local attractions and events, as may be requested. Observe, record and report by-law infractions to senior officers. Keep daily accurate notes. Preparate disclosures for parking infractions. Attend virtual parking screenings for disputed parking tickets. Enforcement of Dogs off leash. Enforcement of Parks and Parking By-laws. Promotes a high standard of customer service to the public as well as to all internal customers. Personally comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Performs other duties as required. What you will need: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in law enforcement, justice studies, or a related field is an asset. Previous experience in by-law enforcement, security, customer service, or a regulatory environment is an asset. Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. Ability to be appointed as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and manage physical demands such as walking, standing and driving. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications; knowledge of parking ticket software application and Cloud Permit would be an asset. Excellent interpersonal communication, public relations and conflict resolution skills. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy by working independently and as part of an enforcement team. Possess a Criminal Record Check with results satisfactory to the Town. What we offer: This is a Seasonal Contract opportunity (May until approximately mid-October 2026) at the Town. The hourly rate for this role is $38.18- $44.67 – hourly rate (2026 Rate).
