Description

Traxion Construction is looking for a dedicated and skilled Municipal Roadside/ Forestry Arborist to join our maintenance team. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on maintaining the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our urban forests, specifically along municipal roadways and public lands. The ideal candidate will be passionate about arboriculture and committed to serving the community through expert tree care. Key Responsibilities

  • Tree Maintenance: Perform a wide range of arboricultural tasks, including pruning, trimming, and removal of trees and shrubs to ensure clear and safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Tree Health: Diagnose and treat tree diseases and pest infestations. Apply appropriate treatments to maintain the vitality of the urban canopy.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to storm-related incidents, clearing fallen trees, and addressing hazards to restore public safety.
  • Planting and Inventory: Participate in tree planting initiatives and help manage the city’s tree inventory, keeping accurate records of species, health, and location.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and associated regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the safe operation of equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

Qualifications

  • Certification: A valid ISA Certified Arborist credential is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 years of experience in arboriculture, with a focus on urban or municipal settings.
  • Skills: Proficiency in tree climbing, rigging, and the use of various arboricultural tools and machinery.
  • Licenses: A valid driver’s license (e.g., Class G) is required. A Class DZ or other specific commercial license may be required and should be specified if necessary.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy loads, standing for extended periods, and working at heights.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 60 per week
