Description Location: The Assembly Room at Benedictine College Job Type: Up to 40 hours/week Reports To: Director of the Center for Constitutional Liberty Job Summary: As Benedictine College prepares to open a new library modeled on Independence Hall, it seeks a passionate Museum Educator with a deep knowledge of and love for American history, principles, and values, to develop and implement educational programs that bring history to life. The library will contain a duplicate of the Liberty Bell and a replica of the Assembly Room, as well as a large multi-purpose room to house exhibits. This role involves engaging visitors of all ages through guided tours and curriculum-aligned educational materials. The Museum Educator will also assist in developing exhibits, scheduling group visits, managing student workers, and ensuring a dynamic and educational experience for all guests. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Education & Public Engagement: Lead engaging, historically rich tours for school groups, families, and general visitors, emphasizing the significance of the Assembly Room and the Liberty Bell. Design and implement curriculum aids and educational resources that align with state and national learning standards. Assist in developing interactive and immersive museum displays to enhance visitor experience. Administrative & Supervisory Duties: Coordinate and schedule school field trips, group visits, and special educational programs. Train and supervise student workers, volunteers, and interns assisting with Assembly Room education initiatives. Maintain accurate records of educational programs, attendance, and visitor engagement. Program & Exhibit Development: Collaborate with college staff and consultants to create new exhibits. Research historical materials to ensure accuracy and authenticity in presentations. Assist in planning special events, lectures, and workshops related to the Assembly Room and the Center for Constitutional Liberty’s mission. Grant-writing and other Center-related work Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s or Doctorate preferred). Experience in museum education, historical interpretation, or teaching. Strong public speaking and storytelling skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate with a team. Knowledge of early American history, particularly the Revolutionary era. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of the Catholic intellectual tradition, particularly in the area of political thought. Experience developing educational materials and public programming. Familiarity with museum best practices and visitor engagement strategies. Proficiency in scheduling software and educational technology. Working Conditions: Ability to stand for extended periods and lead tours in a historic setting. Flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
