JOB SUMMARY

Immanuel Lutheran Church (Lethbridge, Alberta) is seeking a part-time Music Director (up to 10 hours/week) to lead and develop our worship music ministry. The Music Director will provide musical direction and team leadership, working closely with the Worship Coordinator to ensure Christ-centered, Word-and-Sacrament worship that is musically rich and engaging. The ideal candidate is a skilled vocalist and instrumentalist (guitar or piano), experienced in leading worship teams and passionate about equipping volunteers to glorify God and share the Good News through music. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Music Director will serve as a key leader in the congregation’s worship life, providing musical direction and team leadership in service to Christ and His Church. Reporting to the Pastor, this role works in collaboration with the Worship Coordinator, ensuring that worship services are Christ-centered, rooted in Word and Sacrament, prepared with care, and musically rich in helping God’s people receive His gifts and respond with praise.

  • Strong ability to lead worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar or piano required).
  • Demonstrated experience directing musicians and vocalists.
  • Ability to teach, encourage, and develop musical volunteers.
  • Strong ear for musical balance and quality.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Passion for creating worship experiences that glorify God and engage the congregation.
    Job Type: Part-time
    Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 10 per week

Responsibilities
  • Lead a worship team and assist other teams during Sunday services and weekly practices.
  • Play guitar or piano while leading (preferred).
  • Provide musical direction and coaching to help teams sound balanced and unified.
  • Work with the sound technician to make adjustments and improvements as needed.
  • Participate in planning and leading music for special services and events (e.g. Christmas, Easter).
  • Attend weekly evening rehearsals and Sunday services.
  • Collaborate with the Worship Coordinator to align music with overall service planning.
  • Explore creative ways to use music to reach and engage people with the Good News.
