TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Teaching certification and endorsement in grade or field preferred

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Epiphany School seeks a long-term substitute to cover the Music, Drama, and Movement Specialist curriculum while our teacher is out on leave. The successful candidate has demonstrated skills in teaching and classroom management, has a love for teaching music, drama, and/or movement curriculum, delights in teaching elementary age children, is committed to the school’s mission, vision, and values, aligns with the Responsive Classroom approach, and is highly organized.
This is an exempt, full-time, seasonal position reporting to the Lower Elementary Division Head.
The assignment will begin on March 12, 2025, with an anticipated end date of April 11, 2025, with a standard work schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm and Wednesdays from 8:00am – 5:00pm (to attend staff meetings). With our Spring Break schedule (Week of April 14th), there will be two additional days April 22-23rd to provide overlap with the teacher returning from leave.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, teach, and assess music, drama, and movement curriculum for grades pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, second, and fifth grades until April 7th and then transition to grades pre-kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades on April 8th through the duration of the assignment.
  • Collaborate with grade level teachers, division heads, and other subject area specialists to teach the curriculum, assess, evaluate, and supervise students and set a classroom culture based on vision, mission, and values of the school
  • Manage the classroom supplies, resources, and annual budget
  • Assess and record student learning, leaving detailed notes for the teacher to review upon return.
  • Build student appreciation for music, drama, and movement, understanding the value of self-expression through these art forms, stretching students’ comfort zones, and building creative collaboration opportunities in a safe environment.
  • Take a leadership role in school performances while collaborating with others
  • Utilize necessary technology in the classroom and for delivery of instruction
  • Communicate with families and provide regular input to teacher pages and newsletters

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide lunch and recess coverage and arrival and dismissal duties
  • Participate in school admission, development, and community events as needed
