JOB SUMMARY

At Branches, teachers play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming environment where children can build meaningful connections with peers and adults. We aim to promote social growth by encouraging youth and helping them develop valuable life skills such as cooperation, creativity, perseverance, a strong work ethic, and a sense of community. In this role, you’ll lead both group and one-on-one lessons and collaborate with fellow teachers to co-create engaging curriculum. Teachers are also responsible for light administrative tasks, including incident reports, photocopying, program setup, and supporting end-of-day activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess evidence of professional capacity as a music teacher, through a related degree, and/or ARTC.
  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching music in a classroom setting.
  • Familiarity with early childhood education practices is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to engage with children and create a supportive learning atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of various musical instruments and teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
  • A passion for educating young minds through the art of music.
  • Possess a clean criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging music lesson plans tailored to various age groups.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their musical skills.
  • Organize and participate in music events, performances, and recitals.
  • Maintain classroom organization and ensure all materials are prepared for lessons.
  • Support students’ learning needs through personalized tutoring sessions.
