OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join a dynamic school environment. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage pupils through creative and inclusive music lessons, encouraging a love for music while developing key skills across a range of musical styles and instruments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Specialism or strong background in music education
  • Experience teaching music across Key Stages (KS1–KS4 preferred, depending on the setting)
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to play and teach at least one musical instrument (piano, guitar, etc. is advantageous)
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine enthusiasm for working with young people and fostering musical growth
Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality music lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach a broad range of musical skills including performance, composition, listening, and appraising
  • Introduce students to a variety of musical genres, instruments, and traditions
  • Organise and lead extra-curricular music activities such as choirs, ensembles, or school productions
  • Prepare students for concerts, exams, and school performances as required
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel encouraged to participate
  • Assess, record, and report on the development and progress of students
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff and contribute to whole-school events and activities
  • Promote a positive attitude towards learning and uphold high standards of behaviour and effort
  • Stay current with developments in music education and maintain professional development
