What You’ll Do As Music Teacher, you will provide inclusive, adaptive music instruction to students in grades 7–12 with diverse learning needs. This role emphasizes fostering creativity, self-expression, and musical growth while accommodating a range of cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Designing and implementing differentiated music lessons that align with IEP goals and state standards. Teaching music theory, vocal and instrumental performance, and music appreciation using adaptive techniques. Creating a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and builds confidence. Collaborating with special education staff to modify instruction and assessments. Using assistive technology and adaptive instruments to ensure accessibility. Organizing performances or showcases that highlight student progress and creativity. Maintaining accurate records of student progress and contribute to IEP meetings. You’re a great fit for this role if you have: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education (required) Minimum 2 years of teaching experience and/or master’s degree preferred Current and valid NYSED Special Education teaching certification (preferred) Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a secondary school setting. Strong classroom management skills and a passion for inclusive education. Knowledge of adaptive music strategies and assistive technologies.
