Music Therapist | Blue Care | Carina

  • Employment Term: Permanent Part Time - Flexible with amount of hours
  • Location: Carina
  • Remuneration: $42.15 - $59.04p/h + 12% + Super + Salary packaging benefits
  • 5 weeks annual leave (Pro-rata)

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Music Therapist who is ready to make a meaningful impact with our elderly clients.
As a Music Therapist, you will provide music based interventions for clients aimed at improving their well-being in areas such as; social, communication, mood, behaviour, emotions and cognitive function.
You will use a variety of musical activities, such as singing, playing instruments, song writing, and listening to music, to help clients achieve specific therapeutic goals.
Your part in our BlueCare team

You’ll provide individualised, person-centred music therapy to our elderly clients living in our Communities. You’ll actively incorporate contemporary theory and practice into therapy that promotes the independence and wellbeing of our elderly clients. This will include:

  • Proactively screen and assess clients to formulate and maintain up to date individualised care plans.
  • Maintaining open and fluid communication within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Referring clients to appropriate health care professionals when necessary.
  • Liaising compassionately with our clients and their families.
  • Working with our consumers in both individual and group settings.

You’ll be self-motivated and driven to incorporate contemporary theory in your day to day activities and make a real difference to the lives of our clients! You’ll have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Music Therapy
  • Current membership and registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
  • Experience as a Music Therapist, preferably in aged care. Graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Competence and confidence playing piano and/or guitar
  • Competence and confidence with your singing skills
  • Ability to work in group and individual settings
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build great relationships
  • Clear understanding and experience with contemporary Music Therapy theories and practices
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence and a road worthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance as required
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
