Description The Music Therapist is responsible for providing individualized and group Music Therapy sessions designed to improve social, emotional, cognitive, and physical functioning in clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This professional will complete comprehensive assessments to determine the most appropriate services for individuals at our ICF locations. The music therapist will be responsible for establishing treatment goal plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. This is a salaried , nonexempt position Contributions: Establish music therapy treatment goals following assessment process Provide individual therapy sessions as well as group and/or co-treats with other disciplines as therapeutically appropriate Completes all necessary documentation such as annual and quarterly reports for active caseload; attends annual meetings as needed. Active participation in the Interdisciplinary Team Process. Consult closely with multi-disciplinary team members to create collaborative treatment plans and integrative strategies Design musical interventions to promote nonmusical treatment goals in sensorimotor, communicative, cognitive skills, and social-emotional domains while considering an individual's sensory processing and regulation Implements therapeutic programming in the residences and ATF as appropriate. Travel to all ICF locations in the Pittsburgh area to provide therapeutic session Collaborate with caregivers, families, and interdisciplinary teams to align goals with each client’s plan of care. Provides an environment conducive to safety for clients, visitors and staff. Will assume all other duties as assigned. Ability to interact well with all departments and across disciplines. Must demonstrate good organizational and interpersonal skills. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) 1-3 years of experience working with those who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Requires familiarity with Windows operating systems, electronic health records, email communication, word processing and spreadsheet software. On-the-job training is provided by the Habilitation Services Manager on various interdepartmental methods and procedures. CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire.
