Description

LMA is one of the fastest growing creative institutions in the UK, celebrating talent, diversity & inclusivity by breaking down barriers to Higher Education. Part of the Galileo Educational Group and network and all the opportunities that brings, we are pleased to advertise a fantastic opportunity to join our Music Department as a core member of the employed staff as a Head of Year Tutor at our Here East, London campus.
Our Music department is made up of a mix of self employed freelance tutors and employed permanent staff and they are not like most traditional educators, they are industry professionals, have been touring and/or session musicians, signed to major labels and record companies and are still active in the industry whilst turning their passion into a vocation.
The Head of Year Tutor role is ideal for someone who has a background in industry with passion for live music and performance and can combine this with a passion for the growth and development of our students, imparting your knowledge, skills and experience to them. LMA is committed to giving our students a real taste of industry and this sets us apart from other institutions.

Responsibilities

A Head of Year Tutor, under the leadership of the Head of Department, is responsible for:

  • Delivering teaching material across BTEC and BA (Hons) specified modules within the Music Performance Course.
  • Undertaking a range of academic administrative and pastoral support activities to ensure the department operates effectively and provides a supportive student learning environment.
  • Helping to organise and facilitate rehearsals, workshops, masterclasses, and performance opportunities relevant to the students’ development.
  • Preparing students for assessment, including performances at internal and external venues.
  • Developing and maintaining external networks and industry connections to support student opportunities and recruitment.

In this role there are still opportunities to be involved in with industry and performance as you’ll be required to:

  • Work with the team to ensure the seamless execution of live music events, coordinate with performers, sound engineers, and provide exceptional customer service to both artists and attendees.
  • Supervise the technical setup and sound check for performances, working closely with sound engineers and lighting crews.
