Musical Conductor/Accompanist University of Pittsburgh – Department of Theatre Arts Start Date: February 2026 Term: February 2026-April 2026 The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Theatre Arts is seeking a collaborative, experienced, and dependable Conductor/Accompanist for the Spring 2026 performance of Head Over Heels. There is a $4000 - $5000 stipend associated with this position. Position Overview The successful candidate will demonstrate significant expertise in Musical Theater conducting, vocal arrangement and transposition, and keyboard programming. The department encourages applicants with extensive accompaniment experience. Duties of the position include managing student orchestra participants, assisting in the hiring of professional musicians, accompanying rehearsals, and conducting and playing performances from April 10th through April 19th. Desired Qualifications - Demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas: • Accompaniment of vocal rehearsals • Arrangements of vocal and orchestral parts • Programming keyboards for performance • Conducting - Experience teaching and mentoring students - Effective organizational and communication skills - Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced educational theatre environment We are especially interested in candidates eager to mentor students and model professional standards in the theatre.
