SUMMARY   Keeneland is seeking responsible candidates for Mutuel Clerk positions during the live race meet for the months of April and October. Mutuel Clerks require exceptional customer service skills, the ability to perform ticket sales and cashing functions in a friendly and ethical manner with both speed and a high degree of accuracy under the pressure of a fast-paced environment. Clerks are accountable for all transactions and balances daily to assure accuracy. Candidates should be organized, safety-conscious, and able to commit to assigned work schedule (including Saturdays and Holidays). Potential new hires are required to attend one or two days of mutuel clerk training.  If hired, Keeneland will commit to at least two (2) days a week, Friday and Saturday but possibly could work up to 5 days (Wednesday through Sunday) if business allows. Must be at least 18 years of age, pass a pre-employment background screening and be able to be licensed by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. This position is a seasonal part time job.    QUALIFICATIONS   * Exceptional customer service skills * Perform ticket sales and cashing function in a professional manner * Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment * Accountability for daily balances * Count money and daily balance cash drawer.  * Ability to work in a sitting or standing position or enclosed space for long periods of time (up to five hours).  * Must be able to perform in various weather elements including heat, cold, humidity, rain, wind or snow. * Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimal supervision.  * Ability to satisfactorily communicate (speak, read, write) with patrons, co-workers and management to their understanding. * Ability to effectively deal with external and internal customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.  * Punctuality and regular, reliable attendance.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE   High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Experience working in a customer-service related capacity preferred. Experience counting cash, making change and balancing drawers. Knowledge of Thoroughbred racing and betting preferred.     LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patrons and employees.     MATHEMATICAL SKILLS   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to count monies and return change to patrons.    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS   Kentucky State Racing Commission License.    PHYSICAL DEMANDS   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
