Employment Position: NA-84 Executive Administrator
Location: Washington, DC
This position serves as the primary Executive Administrator to the Director, NA-84 Office of Nuclear Incident Response. The incumbent provides comprehensive, high-level administrative and operational support, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Director’s office and the NA-84 organization. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, discretion, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to operate in a high-pressure, sensitive environment with national and international implications. The Executive Administrator will manage complex schedules, communications, and logistical arrangements for sensitive and highly classified activities, contributing directly to the readiness and response capabilities of Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- DOE site access requires the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with an ACTIVE DOE Q or Department of Defense (DoD) Top-Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain DOE IN Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a pre-employment background check and test for the absence of any illegal substances is required as a condition of employment and to maintain a security clearance.
- Demonstrated extensive administrative support experience at the executive level within a federal government agency, preferably within national security, defense, or intelligence communities.
- Proven ability to handle highly sensitive, classified, and proprietary information with utmost discretion and confidentiality.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, including meticulous attention to detail in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with secure communication systems and document management platforms.
- Proactive problem-solver with a strong ability to anticipate needs and resolve issues independently.
- Work after-hours, extended shifts and on weekends when required during emergency responses and exercises.
- Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances will be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience supporting Senior Executive Service (SES) or equivalent level executives.
- Knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) organizational structures, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with nuclear security, emergency response, or related national security missions.
- Experience in a 24/7 operational environment or supporting rapid response teams.
