DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Lenovo is looking for a North American Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role manages classification (rulings), record retention, CTPAT security and trade programs, regulatory changes, training, and system oversight. With increasing trade complexities and tariffs, this role is vital to support risk mitigation, cost control, operational efficiency, and strategic advantage.
We’re looking for someone to provide cross functional compliance guidance, critical information and insights as well as support all aspects of imports/exports regulatory compliance including but not limited to classification, tariffs, country of origin determination, customs valuation, marking, and labeling, and bond sufficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years’ experience and strong knowledge of trade compliance, customs regulations, and international trade agreements
  • Strong operational background in trade compliance
  • Direct experience with import/export process
  • Experience with ACE data and reports
  • Knowledge of HTS classification and rules of origin
  • Familiarity of trade agreements (USMCA, EU, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of import regulations, including classification, valuation, trade agreements, duty drawback, and FTZ
  • Strong experience and direct knowledge of CTPAT Security and Trade Programs
  • Data analytics to identify abnormalities and compliance gaps
  • Superior MS Office Skills: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word
  • Direct involvement in managing responses to changing tariff regimes (e.g., Section 301, Section 232, IEEPA, Product Exclusions, Exemption, and Allowances)
    The base salary budgeted range for this position is $70k-95kk. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.

Responsibilities
  • PRODUCT CLASSIFICATION & VALUATIONDetermine HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classification of components, raw materials, kits, and finished goods.
  • REGULATORY MONITORING & COMPLIANCEMonitor and interpret changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and trade programs (e.g., Section 301, USMCA, FTAs) and advise business on necessary actions.
  • DOCUMENTATION & FILINGPrepare and submit required documents—import/export filings, USMCA certificates, drawback claims, etc.—and handle post-entry adjustments (e.g., Reconciliation, PSCs, Protest).
  • SECURITY & TRADE PROGRAMSManage CTPAT program and ensure supply chain compliance and risk management.
  • AUDITS & ENFORCEMENT READINESSConduct audits, respond to government inquiries, and maintain thorough records. Develop and track corrective actions.
