NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI works to educate, advocate, listen and lead to improve the lives of people with mental illness and their loved ones. NAMI Southwest Iowa, one of Iowa’s newest affiliates of NAMI and NAMI Iowa, serves nine counties in Southwest Iowa. The organization is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to assist with volunteer and fundraising capacity projects. NAMI Southwest Iowa envisions a world where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives supported by a community that cares. This vision includes expanding volunteer leadership capacity of programs to reach all nine counties of our service area while increasing fundraising capacity to sustain those programs.
Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member be a vital team member to help NAMI Southwest Iowa expand its reach to every corner of our nine-county region. Primary duties will include: 1. Develop and implement engaging volunteer leader recruitment strategies for our signature programs. 2. Research grant opportunities, develop a grant plan, and assist with writing grant applications to support program and operating expenses. 3. Explore additional fundraising opportunities and develop a fundraising event schedule to assist in building fundraising capacity.
