Description

We are looking for a full-time candidate to work within our Nano-bio-photonics Lab. The opportunity will involve Microfluidic-based targeted detection of cancer biomarkers based on the LSPR-based substrate biosensor using SERS and NIR-FT spectroscopy and bioimaging.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • To hold a B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Nanotechnology Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 or equivalent.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be available full-time to work on site.
  • Academic or research experience in the fields of synthesis of nanomaterials biochemistry.
  • Familiarity and experience with antibodies (e.g. HER-II, CA 15-3).
  • Familiarity and experience with several of microfluidic systems, cell culture, immunoassay, conjugation of Ab, UV-Vis, FTIR, fluorescence, and Raman spectroscopy, and fluorescence microscopy.
  • Familiarity with computer programs (e.g. Python, MATLAB) and algorithms.
  • Conscientious, independent worker willing to learn and develop new skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with general laboratory biosafety and maintenance, including inventories, equipment repair, and ordering supplies.
  • Research and preparation of required chemicals and equipment.
  • Immobilization of nanostructures such as gold on substrate.
  • Functionalization and conjugation of nanostructure-antibody (NS-Ab) on substrate.
  • Characterization of the substrate using reflectance FTIR, Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy.
  • Optical detection of breast cancer blood serum biomarker (BCS).
  • Programming and coding using Python MATLAB, Lab View, etc.
  • Data analysis using statistical software such as PCA, LDA, PLS, ANOVA, and similar programs.
