Analyze key Gordon Food Service National Accounts and their supply chain networks to identify the most cost-effective transportation method and initiate the process of transporting freight into the customer’s distribution network. Collaborate with the appropriate GFS departments, carriers, customers, third party transportation providers (3PL’s) and suppliers to continually review and update supply chain activities to ensure that Capstone has implemented the optimal freight management solutions for key GFS National Accounts.

What you will do:

  • Collaborates with the GFS CAT and Chain Logistics teams to maximize inbound freight savings and service opportunities
  • Continuously reviews customer proprietary contracts for freight management opportunities that provide stakeholder value.
  • Works in partnership with NAPT to ensure freight costing accuracy and compliance to customer contracts. Develops freight transition plans with pricing and cost deadlines.
  • Works with other Capstone personnel to determine the most cost-effective method and mode of transporting national account freight activity.
  • Strengthens customer relationships by improving communication, developing solutions, providing value and correcting issues.
  • Leads transitions of National Account related freight management activities between supplier, GFS, Capstone, and 3PL’s.
  • Supports audit, tracking, reporting, and improvement of external 3PL activities.
  • Supports operational activities of Capstone in regards to National Account activities. Assists with product expedites, transfers, inventory assumptions, and track & trace activities.
  • Assists in the new customer on-boarding process.
  • Develops freight reports for National Account customer activities
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

When you will work:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Hybrid Work Schedule: 4 days in office, 1 day from home.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Vocational - Knowledge of freight management and supply chain activities.
  • Mathematical - Must demonstrate math and accounting aptitude.
  • Reasoning - Ability to compare/contrast, innovate, analyze, coordinate, and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.
  • Analytical - High degree of analytical skills, complemented with ability to articulate complex supply chain concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Communication - reading (standard), writing (email, business/professional), speaking (basic, conversational, phone).

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Ability to comprehend and operate transportation management systems, proprietary financial tools and reporting systems
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, email and internet software applications.
  • Knowledge of Oracle transportation management software applications preferred.
  • Report generation capabilities preferred.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance or related field preferred.
  • At least two years previous food service, transportation or supply chain management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training required.
