Help us make a difference as a National Commercial & Development Manager – Landfill. Quick look at the role We’re looking for a strategic and commercially driven individual to lead our landfill commercial function and drive growth across Biffa’s Landfill and Gas division. You’ll retain and grow our customer base, identify and secure new key accounts, and explore innovative development opportunities such as solar, battery, and biodiversity projects across our landfill estate. Your core responsibilities Lead and develop the landfill commercial team to deliver customer growth, retention, and revenue objectives. Identify, assess, and secure new business opportunities that align with Biffa’s strategic and operational capabilities. Work closely with senior and local management to develop and implement new service offerings. Deliver feasibility, commercial, and regulatory approvals for new developments including landfill extensions, solar, and battery storage. Represent the Landfill & Gas division as part of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to strategy and decision-making. Ensure compliance with environmental, HMRC, and health & safety legislation across all commercial activities. Drive continuous improvement through innovation, market analysis, and performance tracking. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, local authorities, regulators, and external partners. Our essential requirements Proven experience in landfill waste management and commercial development roles. Strong track record in delivering business growth, project management, and service innovation. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Degree-level education (or equivalent) in business, engineering, or a related discipline. Comprehensive understanding of environmental legislation and commercial governance. Flexibility to travel nationally with regular overnight stays as required. This position is open to all internal Biffa employees.
