The National Laboratory Manager provides operational leadership of all specialist teaching laboratories across the Health and Education faculty nationally. The role is responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality support for academic programs and student learning outcomes through the management of laboratory staff, resources, and compliance obligations. Reporting to the Academic Director – Health and Education, this position leads a national team of Laboratory Coordinators, Laboratory Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants. The National Laboratory Manager leads process review and improvement, national alignment of laboratory operations, equipment specification for meeting curriculum delivery needs, lab workforce capability and development, driving innovation and efficiency in lab environments and upholding safety and accreditation standards. Day-to-day accountabilities: Lead the delivery of a consistent, compliant, and student-ready laboratory service nationally across all health programs and campuses. Develop and implement a national laboratory operations framework and ensure all labs nationally meet academic, WHS, and industry-specific requirements. Provide laboratory related support for practical teaching, simulation, and assessments, resource allocation, and coordination across teams. Collaborate with academic staff to ensure lab environments are aligned to curriculum requirements and support student learning outcomes. Oversee budget use, procurement, and asset lifecycle management across all lab locations. Manage lab-related external vendor, supplier and partner relationships to ensure market competitive pricing and service requirements are met Leadership Accountabilities: Recruit, develop and manage a high-performing national team of laboratory professionals whose main priorities are accountability, efficiency, accuracy and service to the faculty staff and students Build workforce plans, succession pipelines and professional growth opportunities across laboratory staff roles. Lead a team who build collaborative relationships across all areas of the business, actively modelling and facilitating learning and development within the team In addition: Act in line with Torrens Global Education (TGE)’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures, and any relevant external legislative requirements Maintain appropriate conduct at all times including acting in line with TGE’s Success Behaviours Maintain TEQSA/ASQA standards Maintain Standards for RTOs 2015 and the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 To read more about the role please click here to view job description. This is a permanent full-time contract located in Surry Hills, Sydney Campus. Who you are Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Laboratory Technology, Nursing, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in leadership, WHS, education, or a Health-related discipline (desirable). Working with Children Check (WWCC) required. 5 years experience in a health, clinical, or science laboratory environment, ideally with exposure to education and simulation delivery Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a multi-location or national context Strong understanding of higher education and vocational training environments, including curriculum-led lab support. Experience managing technical teams, budgets, inventory and stakeholder relationships Why join us?
