NATIONAL PAYROLL MANAGER

Our Mississauga client is seeking an exceptional National Payroll Manager to manage and oversee the operations and all aspects of the Payroll department including preparation and processing of large, complex, bi-monthly and bi-weekly national (all provinces) payrolls, maintenance of payroll records, systems administration and strategic planning.
As a key member of the organization’s financial management team you will manage the Payroll staff while interacting closely with other departments including Accounting, Information Technology and HR.
Reporting to the Corporate Controller with a payroll team of 5 reporting into you.
You are a positive mentor, tech savvy and have the experience to provide strategic guidance while not being afraid to be hands on when required. You will have experience with payroll system conversions and strong Excel skills. SAP payroll system experience will be a strong asset.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree/Diploma plus Certified Payroll Manager / PLP designation
  • 10+ years progressive Payroll experience, 5+ years in a management role
  • Experienced with large, complex, multi-jurisdictional, national payroll
  • Payroll system conversion(s) experience is a must have
  • Leadership: creates a positive and successful work environment with your team
  • Excellent technical skills: Advanced Excel, payroll systems, SAP payroll is ideal.

Responsibilities
  • Payroll: Manage the timely preparation of a complex, national, 2000+ employee payroll and benefit administration (union/non-union, remittances, tax forms, pensions, timesheets ect).
  • Department Leadership, Planning: Provide effective analysis, management reporting and strategic planning for the effective immediate and long-term operations of the payroll function while interacting with other key departments such as finance, IT and HR. Lead on Payroll department projects.
  • Systems: monitor the payroll systems, identifies any issues, makes short-term recommendations to resolve and liaise with the I.T. department to ensure system issues are managed long term.
  • Leadership: A positive coach, mentor and trainer. Ability to manage a payroll team (6) developing their individual growth while maintaining smooth departmental operations and ensuring exceptional customer service is provided.
