ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

A Degree in environmental science, ecology, conservation or a related Natural Resources Management discipline.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Native Vegetation Senior Compliance Officer to lead the delivery of our native vegetation compliance program. This role is pivotal in ensuring the protection of South Australia’s unique ecosystems by supporting the effective management of native vegetation clearance activities.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice and services relating to native vegetation compliance, with responsibilities including:

  • Coordinating and resolving discrete compliance-focused projects and tasks.
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships within government and with external stakeholders.
  • Reviewing, triaging, and managing reports of unauthorised native vegetation clearance.
  • Contributing to investigations and enforcement activities.
  • Supporting education and outreach to landholders and the community regarding native vegetation obligations and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and support the assessment and resolution of compliance cases.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to enhance compliance outcomes.
  • Contribute to planning, policy development, and continuous improvement of compliance processes.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of education and awareness programs.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and informed advice on native vegetation legislation and compliance requirements.

You are a strategic thinker with strong analytical and investigative skills. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly and build positive relationships will be key to your success in this role. You have:

  • Experience in environmental compliance, regulation, or enforcement.
  • Knowledge of native vegetation legislation or a related regulatory framework.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
