Description Tideman Marine, a subsidiary of United Plastic Fabricating, manufactures HDPE boat hulls for the marine industry. United Plastic Fabricating is the industry leader in the manufacture of plastic water tanks for the fire industry. In addition, we design and manufacture a variety of products for the industrial and transportation markets. The ideal candidate must possess a B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering. Also willing to accept Structural or Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum of 4 years experience in vessel design development, structural design, and auxiliary systems design for marine crafts such as patrol vessels, offshore supply vessels, tugs, and barges. In addition, familiarity with ABYC, class societies, USCG, and other applicable regulations is a bonus (not sure how to phrase this – is encouraged but not required? Idk). Naval Architect Responsibilities Responsible for complex design calculations related to stability, vessel scantlings, mechanical, and electrical systems include CAD and analytical model development. Ensuring vessel design is in compliance with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements. Responsible for the technical management of design and analyses projects from concept to completion. Reviews drawings for compliance, accuracy and ease of production. Liaise with production and provide technical support during construction. Works with production and project teams to successfully implement vessel and vessel component designs. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or Marine Engineering preferred. Candidates will not be excluded if they have a bachelor’s degree in structural engineering or mechanical engineering and 4 + years of relevant engineering experience in the manufacturing, construction (or similar) industry, shipbuilding industry strongly preferred Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines Experienced in interacting with Production, and customer representatives Proficient in the use of Rhino 3D, AutoCAD, and MS Office product Knowledge and application of modular construction methods Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities Excellent benefits including Medical, Life, Dental, Disability insurance, 401K with employer match, student loan assistance, and gainsharing!
