As a K-3 Literacy Tutor supported by NC Education Corps, you will be employed by a partner school district or charter school to work as a high-impact tutor. After you are hired by the school system, you will be onboarded into NC Education Corps and become a Corps Member. To follow the high impact tutoring model, you will work in-person at least 3 days a week, with multiple groups of 1-4 students for 30 minutes at a time. This work will support K-5 students with foundational skills. You will be trained on and expected to use the district’s curriculum. You will log each tutoring session into the NCEC digital tutoring log to ensure that tutoring data is available as schools monitor student’s academic progress.
All corps members (CMs) will participate in required professional learning during the 2025-2026 school year. Once employed, paid, online training will be required. In addition, CMs are offered the opportunity to opt into monthly professional development sessions from October through April. Additionally, each CM will participate in online and in-person coaching sessions provided by their NCEC learning coach throughout the year.
Exact dates and times for any learning and onboarding will be shared by your local school district once hired. As an employee of the school district, you will be paid hourly by the district (pay rates vary by district)
