JOB SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated Safety Officer with valid NCSO certification and active membership with the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). The ideal candidate has practical experience in industrial and/or construction environments and is passionate about promoting a culture of safety.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey safety information to employees at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for identifying potential hazards.
  • Ability to build relationships across departments to promote a culture of safety.
  • Familiarity with construction management software is highly desirable.
  • Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., OSHA) are preferred but not mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification.
  • Active and current membership with ACSA.
  • Minimum [2–5] years of safety experience in [construction, oil & gas, or relevant field].
  • Strong understanding of provincial OH&S legislation and COR standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety documentation/reporting.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with provincial and federal legislation (OH&S).
  • Conduct site inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Lead and document toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain COR compliance and assist with external safety audits.
  • Complete and submit reports, near-misses, and incident documentation.
  • Track training records and ensure workers meet certification requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns on-site.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, and third-party compliance platforms (ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks, etc.).
