DESCRIPTION

To deal with fast and multi-track RTA files with a value of up to £100k on both delegated non delegated basis, for a variety of insurer clients.
It is important that the file handler can work independently and competently using their own initiative to review files and formulate the initial Strategy to ensure the best outcome for the client and have an interest in improving technical quality. You may also be asked to take responsibility for supervision of other file handlers in the team.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Education - a degree is preferable
  • Experience of handling both RTA work is preferable.
  • Must have a Handling Authority of at least £50k
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Good telephone negotiation skills
  • Ability to follow work processes and keep to Strategy
  • Ability to recognise when sensitivity and tact are required
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
    Good IT skills including Word, Outlook, and experience of a Case Management System preferred
Responsibilities
  • Initial report/review
  • Case Strategy
  • Reviewing matters throughout
  • Review and/or report re exchange of evidence, receipt of medical evidence, joints statements or at any other stage
  • Counter Schedule
  • Pre-Trial reports
  • Dealing with Disclosure
  • Instructing Counsel/investigators/medical and other experts/surveillance
  • Reviewing evidence (eg. Witness statements, GP records, Occupational Health/ Personnel records
  • Drafting questions to medical experts
  • Drafting in general
  • Costs Schedules
  • Research
  • Preparing/checking Trial Bundles
  • Reviewing surveillance
  • Attending Conferences and Trial with Counsel
  • Negotiations/ Drafting Payments into Court
  • Dealing with routine correspondence
  • Conducting site inspections and investigations
  • Conducting CMCs and applications
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations

    Working Hours
    35 hours per week
    Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.
    Primary location for this role is Bolton, Parklands Office.
