Description
Company Overview: Kay & Associates, Inc. is a premier provider of aviation maintenance, engineering, and sustainment services for government and defense clients. Specializing in aircraft lifecycle support, we prioritize precision and reliability to keep fleets operational. At our JRB New Orleans facility, we deliver top-tier NDI services to ensure the structural integrity of military aviation assets. Job Summary: The NDI Technician Level II will conduct advanced non-destructive testing on aircraft structures and components to detect subsurface defects, corrosion, and material flaws without causing damage. This mid-level role involves performing inspections using multiple NDI methods, interpreting results, and preparing detailed reports. The technician will mentor junior staff and support high-volume maintenance operations in compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities: * Execute Level II NDI inspections using ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current (ET), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and radiographic (RT) methods on aircraft airframes, engines, and composites. * Calibrate and maintain NDI equipment, ensuring traceability and accuracy per ISO/AS9100 standards. * Interpret test data, identify defects (e.g., cracks, voids, delaminations), and recommend repair actions to maintenance teams. * Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including sketches, photos, and disposition recommendations for engineering review. * Perform on-site and depot-level inspections during scheduled maintenance, phase inspections, and accident investigations. * Train and qualify Level I technicians on NDI procedures and safety protocols. * Ensure FOD control, housekeeping, and adherence to technical orders (TOs) and work instructions. * Participate in process audits and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance NDI efficiency. Qualifications and Requirements: * High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in NDT technology or related field preferred. * Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on NDI experience in aviation or aerospace, with Level II certification in at least three methods (e.g., UT, ET, MT/PT). * ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) Level II certification or equivalent (e.g., NAS 410); current IRRSP (Individual Recertification and Renewal Status Program) enrollment. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, NDI procedures, and aircraft maintenance manuals. * Proficiency with NDI software and data analysis tools. * U.S. citizenship required with eligibility for Secret-level security clearance. * Physical capability to work at heights, in awkward positions, and lift up to 40 lbs. Preferred Skills: * Experience with military platforms (e.g., fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft) and composite materials. * Familiarity with MIL-STD-410 or equivalent military NDI standards. * Strong documentation skills and experience with digital reporting systems.
