Job Description Level II MT NDT Inspector Position Overview
We are seeking a Level II Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) NDT Inspector to join our team. The Level II Inspector will be responsible for performing nondestructive testing on materials, components, and assemblies to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in accordance with industry standards, customer requirements, and company procedures. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and compliance with NAS 410, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ASTM, and customer-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) inspections to identify cracks, laps, seams, inclusions, and other surface/near-surface discontinuities.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results in accordance with established standards and specifications.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment, verify proper technique application, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and procedures.
  • Review work instructions, drawings, and specifications prior to inspections.
  • Prepare, complete, and maintain accurate inspection reports and quality records.
  • Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve non-conformances and provide technical support.
  • Maintain proper use and care of inspection equipment, ensuring functionality and calibration.
  • Adhere to all company safety, quality, and compliance policies.
  • Train and mentor Level I inspectors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Level II MT certification in accordance with NAS 410, SNT-TC-1A, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 4 years of hands-on MT inspection experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or equivalent industry.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards including ASTM E1444, ASME, and customer-specific requirements (e.g., Boeing, Airbus, PCC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in documenting inspection results using digital and written methods.
  • Must pass vision requirements (near vision and color vision testing).
  • High attention to detail, with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional NDT certifications (PT, UT, RT, or ET) highly desirable.
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience.
  • Familiarity with LEAN, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals, magnetic fields, and production floor environments.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols.
