Are you a qualified nursery nurse looking for a different direction in your career? Or maybe you already have some experience working on a neonatal unit and want to progress your career? We are looking for ambitious and confident Nursery Nurses to join the nursing team on the Neonatal Unit at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
We are a large supportive neonatal team who take pride in the high standards of care that we deliver. As part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Evelina London is there for children, young people and women from London to South East England and provides specialist care for families around the UK and across the world. Every year, the number of children and young people Evelina London cares for, in our hospitals and throughout our local community, continues to grow. We support families from pre-conception, before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life.

Candidates should have either NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing
or Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education. (please indicate this on your application form)
To assist in planning, implementing and evaluation of high quality individualised infant care under the supervision of senior nursing staff. To promote a friendly and supportive atmosphere for parents and relatives in which they can learn to care for their babies ensuring a family integrated care approach.
Assist parents/carers to develop their skills and build confidence prior to and following discharge.
Monitor vital signs.
Caring for babies receiving Oxygen via low flow nasal cannula
Participate in the care of babies requiring phototherapy.
Be able to identify child protection concerns and take appropriate action.
Maintain legible, accurate and contemporaneous records in accordance with the Trust Policy
Be responsible for own professional development.

The Nursery Nurse works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing care and within all aspects of the nursing process. The post holder will act professionally at all times and use their knowledge and experience to make evidence-based decisions to solve challenges and problems. They recognise and work within the limits of their competencies and are responsible and accountable for their actions. The post holder will have responsibility for training and supervising of nursing assistants, pre-registration nurses and nursing associates. They will be expected to actively contribute to quality assurance processes and service development.
