An exciting 12-month opportunity for an experienced Network Analyst to work with a global exploration and production company.

POSITION OVERVIEW

ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in Brisbane the Network Analyst is part of the Asia Pacific IT (AP) Team which provides Core Digital Technologies (CDT) to the ConocoPhillips Australia Business Unit (primarily), AP region as well as to the global networks.
The functional role is to provide Network and Security operational support and delivery of CDT projects in a challenging enterprise and LNG Plant environment. This includes supporting LAN, WAN, SDWAN, WiFi, Microwave, LTE, and Firewalls solutions, implement enhancements and new developments.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Deliver ongoing, stable, secure, and highly available network services to ensure the continuity of LNG Plant operation and Business networks in the AsiaPac region and Global networks as required.
  • Maintain an effective work plan for the current and pending operational and project commitments.
  • Drive for continuous improvement by optimising and automating technical and non-technical processes.
  • Implement scheduled upgrades; plan, design, procure and update network equipment and firmware; organize, review and act on necessary tests and compliance reports.
  • Implement configuration, installation and support of the network switching, wireless services, routing, and firewall infrastructure, including DNS and DHCP, to maintain service availability, security, and flexibility to meet evolving operational demands.
  • Communicate, Collaborate and Coordinate with IT and OT teams to provide responsive services and installations and undertake technical investigations to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures.
  • Liaise with other members of the IT Support team on a peer-to-peer basis to exchange knowledge, experience, and ideas and keep the team aware of current and pending activities.
  • Participate in the Follow the Sun (FTS) on-call roster commitments to maintain the LAN, WAN, and Security network after business hours.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and late nights based on client demand and field support requirements.
  • Other Network Services duties as assigned.

YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • CCNP or other equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the IT industry, specifically in network and security services for supporting large enterprise networks.
  • A thorough understanding of Cisco LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and Wireless is necessary. A deep comprehension of MPLS, BGP, EIGPR, QoS Traffic Engineering, and other relevant networking protocols is also required.
  • Working knowledge of the Palo Alto firewall, Cisco ISE, and NAC.
  • Having exceptional problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills with customers are essential qualifications.
  • Having excellent abilities in managing operation processes, network documentation, monitoring system, and asset management system.
  • Team player and ready to contribute whatever it takes or play any role on a team to get the job done.
  • Able to travel between Gladstone and Brisbane.
  • Experience with a major energy or mining company would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Services (preferred).
  • Experience in automation and orchestration, including shell scripting or programming languages, including Python, Perl, or Shell (preferred).
