GENERAL DESCRIPTION

As the Network and Security Analyst, the successful candidate will be a key member of Elexicon Energy’s IT team, reporting to the Manager, Technology and Security Operations. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, wireless systems, VPNs, and voice technologies. The Analyst will play a vital role in ensuring a secure, reliable, and high-performing network environment, while also actively monitoring vulnerabilities and responding to cyber security threats and remediation activities. As part of the incident response team, the Analyst will support both proactive defense measures and reactive investigations. KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Network and security certifications CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft certifications are an asset.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting enterprise voice systems, including cloud-based solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft’s cloud platforms Microsoft 365, Azure or similar technologies and IaaS or SaaS deployments.
  • Experience and knowledge with network monitoring, intrusion detection and prevention and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Experience in data security and encryption, BCP/DRP, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and multi-tasking on several tasks/projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and professional demeanor, even in high-pressure or stressful situations.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation with compensation.
  • Experience working in the utilities or energy sector is an asset.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years in a Network Specialist position (Required), 3+ years in security.
  • Extensive proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, VPNs, wireless).
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, tools, and incident response processes.
Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain the enterprise network infrastructure including but not limited to switches, firewalls, wireless access points, UPS equipment, and VPN solutions.
  • Support and configure critical telecommunications infrastructure such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) systems.
  • Manage and maintain equipment supporting IT/OT infrastructure including coordination of preventative maintenance service.
  • Administration and maintenance of system monitoring tools and software.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of network and security solutions aligned with business and operational needs.
  • Research and conduct POC’s on new technologies.

Cyber Security Monitoring and Response

  • Monitor and respond to cyber threats as part of the Incident Response team.
  • Actively support vulnerability management program and implement remediation activities.
  • Investigate, contain, and remediate security incidents, collaborating with the cyber security team as part of the incident response process.
  • Act as the point of contact for all requests and incidents generated from the enterprise network, SIEM and other automated monitoring systems.
  • Review and manage logging, tracking, auditing, and reporting for existing network infrastructure and cyber security.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, system hardening, and compliance with cyber security best practices.
  • Update and report on the network and security posture aligned to CIS Top18 and Ontario Energy Board Cyber Security Framework.

Documentation and Operational Excellence

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, configuration backups, and operational procedures.
  • Develop and maintain IT BCP/DRP documentation and manage testing efforts to ensure plans are current to support continued operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the development of policies, standards, processes and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain reporting metrics, scorecards and dashboards to communicate to upper management.

Standard Administrative Duties

  • Manage service requests, incident and problem resolution and collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance windows.
  • Maintain asset inventory of infrastructure hardware, software, and cloud subscriptions.
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and security compliance targets are met for critical systems.
  • Other duties as required may be considered part of these responsibilities.
