Are you a highly experienced Network Architect ready to make a significant impact? The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is seeking a visionary leader to design, modernize, and maintain our critical network infrastructure across 4 sites and over 300 buses. If you’re passionate about ensuring seamless connectivity and robust security, this is your chance to keep Milwaukee moving!

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

We’re looking for a seasoned professional with:

  • Extensive Experience: An advanced degree in IT or 10+ years in IT.
  • Network Design Expertise: Five years of direct network architecture design and six years configuring network infrastructure.
  • Layer 3 Routing: Strong Layer 3 routing experience.
  • Project Management: Proven project management knowledge.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • System Migration: A successful track record of migrating systems.
  • Leadership: Some supervisory experience.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Direct experience with SIP and VoIP.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Cisco IOS advanced configurations (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP) and VLAN, DNS, Spanning Tree, NTP, and Fiber Optic.
  • Expertise in Firewall and DMZ programming.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory (OU’s, Group Policy).
  • Familiarity with SolarWinds, Extreme Wireless, SCCM, Ninja, and Exchange.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell and Linux scripting.
  • Experience with PCI requirements, cellular technology, and Cradlepoint routers.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity systems (e.g., Darktrace, Rapid7).
  • Cisco Certified preferred.

  • Ensure Security: Configure and maintain strong security protocols, including intrusion detection and access controls.
  • Collaborate & Supervise: Partner with stakeholders and vendors, and manage cybersecurity analysts and network contractors.
  • Provide On-Call Support: Participate in our rotational on-call schedule to address critical issues.
