NETWORK/COMMUNICATIONS ROOM DESIGN CONSULTANT:

On behalf of our healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Network/Communications Room Design Consultant for a one-year role. This position is onsite at our client’s Surrey, British Columbia office.

NETWORK/COMMUNICATIONS ROOM DESIGN CONSULTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Project Services department is responsible for delivering a wide range of IT infrastructure projects for the Health Authorities of British Columbia. The consultant will provide Network/Communications room assessment and design services on a time and materials basis, as required for network projects that arise at Health Authority facilities throughout the Greater Vancouver Area.

NETWORK/COMMUNICATIONS ROOM DESIGN CONSULTANT - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in Communications technology
  • A minimum of five years of recent data networking experience
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified
  • In-depth experience with enterprise-grade Cisco and HP network hardware
  • In-depth knowledge of current network standards and industry best practices
  • Good communication and client/vendor interaction skills
  • Ability to work effectively under time pressures

NETWORK/COMMUNICATIONS ROOM DESIGN CONSULTANT – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience working with healthcare infrastructure
  • Familiarity with PHSA Communications Infrastructure Standards & Specifications
  • Experience with high-density wired and wireless networks
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration abilities
Responsibilities
  • Provide a Communications room space and infrastructure design
  • Coordinate with Architect, Mechanical and Electrical Consultants, and TELUS for WAN services
  • Participate in site visits and meetings with all associated trades
  • Provide technical guidance/oversight to ensure alignment with BCCSS Communications Infrastructure Standards & Specifications
  • Confirm locations and types of power outlets, lighting fixtures, and other necessary installations
  • Coordinate with the Security Consultant on access control and CCTV cabling requirements
  • Ensure the network design meets current and future operational and clinical needs
