Description
Location: Dry Creek About the role Aurizon is seeking either a Qualified Network Controller or a Trainee Network Controller to join our Dry Creek depot. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient management of trains and track works across the Aurizon Bulk Central Network, in line with network safe working rules and operational requirements. For candidates not yet qualified, Aurizon is open to appointing a Trainee Network Controller with a strong Operational Rail Safety background, who will be supported through structured training and competency development toward Network Control qualifications. You will be responsible for: * Managing, controlling and monitoring the movement of trains and on-track vehicles * Delivering safe, reliable and efficient network operations across the Bulk Central network * Ensuring Network Control activities comply with all legislative and Aurizon Bulk Central safety and security requirements * Providing rail operators and infrastructure providers with correct track access in line with daily train plans, possession protocols and contingency arrangements * Responding effectively to operational variations, incidents and emergency situations About you You will work in a collaborative team environment, sharing ideas and contributing to continuous improvement across network operations and resource availability. To be successful, you will demonstrate the following: For Qualified Network Controllers: * Certificate IV in Network Control (or equivalent) * DIRN Code of Practice competence and Train Order Working competence (desirable) * Proven experience in rail network operations or control environments For Trainee Network Controllers: * Demonstrated Operational Rail Safety background (highly desirable) * Experience within rail operations or a similar operational environment * Strong understanding of safety systems, rules and safe working principles * Capability and commitment to complete Network Control training and required competencies For all candidates: * Strong commitment to safety and the application of safety management principles * Clear written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement * Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills, often under pressure * Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations * Strong time management and ability to multitask * Ability to interpret, analyse and process operational data * Competency using Microsoft Office * Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team * Willingness to work a 24/7 roster and overtime as required What we offer you:              At Aurizon, we support the development and growth of our employees.
