SUMMARY

We are looking to hire an experienced network engineer to help design, manage and maintain one of SRP’s networks.
Acting as a network engineer, you will be responsible for helping build and deploy the new “greenfield” operations center as well as handling advanced support issues. While the focus of this role is on network layers 1-4 and related infrastructure, the ideal candidate is interested and willing to work with and/or learn within all layers of OSI model, from cabling to application troubleshooting. This position is extremely collaborative and must possess a desire, willingness, and ability to learn new things and help other team members in many areas.

EXPERIENCE

• For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years). • For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years). • For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Network Engineer Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years cumulative and progressive hands-on experience as a systems administrator, network engineer or similar in an enterprise network environment.
  • Experience building out “greenfield” enterprise network systems from the ground up, including configuring brand new equipment, is highly desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of network systems including Cisco Nexus routing, Palo Alto firewalls, and knowledge of VMWare server virtualization. Industry certifications in these areas will be highly valued.
  • Experience with monitoring an enterprise network and using common monitoring tools like SolarWinds or ScienceLogic.
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools and experience troubleshooting network issues
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
  • High level problem-solving and communication skills
  • Operational Technology (OT) and/or Utility experience is highly desired
  • Ability to work remote or on-site as needed, including various SRP sites (substation and generation). Minimum of 2 days a week in-off/on-site is required, but applicant needs to be available on-site more when work requires it
Responsibilities

Network Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to design and implement a secure, functional network
  • Rack, cable, and configure networking hardware, including firewalls, Cisco switching, virtual server infrastructure, backup, and remote access solutions
  • Deal with escalated network support issues, including occasional off-hours support.
  • Understand and adhere to all related NERC CIP requirements
  • Report to the HSOC Manager
  • This position does require participating in an on-call rotation. Extra pay and overtime policies apply.

 Palo Alto Firewalls
 Cisco Route & Switch technologies (specifically Nexus 9k)
 F5 Load balancers
 Infoblox DNS
o Device event alerting and availability monitoring, specifically with ScienceLogic
o Installation and setup of new and replacement equipment
o ESX/VMWare virtual server infrastructure, including server event log monitoring, alerts, and maintenance
o Directory services (e.g., Active Directory)
o Antivirus Software Support (McAfee, Defender, etc.)
o Server equipment, builds, operating systems, and software
o Fiber and copper cabling, SFP’s, QSFP’s, etc.
