We are seeking a Network Engineer 5 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business Unit. As part of (SES) Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, it systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.
Responsibilities:
The Network Engineer 5 is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the network solutions for the customers to ensure maximum uptime. The role includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the pre-installation and testing of a new network, and performs upgrades to hardware and software as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline 10+ years Progressive Experience

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) concepts.
  • Moderate understanding of security issues and implications for network solutions.
  • Moderate knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools and philosophies, and the ability to design an organization’s network infrastructure and services.
  • Moderate knowledge of system development methodology, project management, system architecture an analytical/problem solving skills.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients and other network/system stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish working relationships with others outside area of expertise.

BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:

  • Must be able to balance high quality standards with schedule pressures and demanding environment.
  • Must be a resourceful self-starter, flexible, pro-active, solution-oriented and customer-oriented.

FIELD EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in reading network and connectivity schematics and plans
  • Experience in reading network installation schematics and plans
  • Experience in network system startup, configuration, and calibration
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience using basic electrical and machinist hand tools
  • Experience using testing, calibration, or industry-specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, Alignment tool) Tools/Software
  • Experience in computer networks
  • Experience with ticketing and monitoring toolset.
  • Experience in one or more IT/Network platform, such as: Cisco, AllenBradley, Juniper, PaloAlto, NetGear, etc.
  • Experience in one or more network related hardware and software.
  • Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc)

Responsibilities

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Survey Reports measurement results in actionable form to more senior personnel and management.
  • Conducts any surveys, inspections, tours, etc. of client sites, as required

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares cost estimates and supporting documents for projects
  • Assists senior engineers in preparation of Bids and Proposals cost estimates and supporting documentation Pricing of change orders
  • Assist in developing and adapting documents, procedures, and formal processes for the Network Engineering team members to accomplish Company project planning (PKOM’s and gate checks)
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to define work / interfaces.

ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification is required
  • Provides networking equipment inventory management, including reconciliation of network equipment in the field with the Division’s inventory system
  • Documents network information including of all switching and routing equipment, connected or soon-to-be-connected IP-addressable devices, and all cabling interconnects
  • Provides expert support services necessary to augment network engineering staff
  • Assists with day to day network maintenance to include installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of switched networks and network equipment
  • Reviews and analyzes current network processes and procedures
  • Develops and recommends improvements to network processes and procedures
  • Implements, manages, and maintains approved network process improvement recommendations
  • Develops and implements quality assurance and control plans for network maintenance
  • Reviews, analyzes, documents, and implements network disaster recovery plans
  • Researches, designs, and implements security solutions for network infrastructure
  • Tracks and reports identified information system vulnerabilities
  • Monitors, reviews, analyzes, performance tunes, and make recommendations to optimize network
  • Manages firewall security appliances
  • Keeps the Division abreast of emerging network technologies and the latest network standard
  • Leads projects as an Engineering Lead and/or Project Manager to develop secure, resilient systems
  • Prepares conceptual designs, schedules, and cost estimates for new and modified systems
  • Conducts design reviews
