About the Role
Nexus Division is seeking a Network Engineer (ANZSCO: 263111) with a strong track record in routing, switching, and advanced service provider environments. This role is focused on supporting large-scale telecommunications and enterprise clients, with an emphasis on core network integration, MPLS, and broadband gateway deployments.
The successful candidate will have experience delivering end-to-end implementations, performing migrations in live environments, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless network service delivery and ongoing optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, integrate, and maintain core routers and service provider infrastructure (Cisco, Nokia SR series).
  • Deliver end-to-end migrations including BNG (Broadband Network Gateway) deployments, MPLS integration, and IPoE/PPPoE subscriber services.
  • Execute routing protocol implementations across OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS, L2VPN, and L3VPN.
  • Conduct network acceptance testing, validation, and troubleshooting for large-scale ISP and enterprise clients.
  • Perform software upgrades, prepare HLD/LLD/MOP documents, and support migration strategies.
  • Monitor and optimise network performance using Nokia EMS, WhatsUp Gold, SolarWinds, and MRTG.
  • Collaborate with upstream providers, vendors, and clients to ensure SLAs and project timelines are achieved.
  • Document all changes and procedures through structured change management processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, Information Technology, or equivalent international qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on network engineering experience within service provider or enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in core network routing and switching, MPLS backbone support, and broadband/ISP migration projects.

Technical Competencies

  • Networking: TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, QoS, ACLs
  • Protocols: OSPF, BGP, ISIS, MPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN
  • Platforms: Nokia (7750 SR, 7250 IXR), Cisco routing & switching
  • Tools: Nokia EMS, SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, MRTG
  • Systems: DHCP, DNS, TACACS, AAA integration
  • Operating Systems: Cisco IOS, Windows
  • Documentation: HLD, LLD, MOP preparation
