KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in designing and managing hybrid network environments, including GCP, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Palo Alto firewall technologies, BGP routing, and Application Load Balancers (ALBs) and office networking.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues across diverse platforms.
  • Experience implementing network automation using APIs and adopting Network-as-Code principles.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance optimisation across Linux and Windows systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and platform owners to modernise network topology.
  • Excellent documentation skills and adherence to defined controls and procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call support and provide out-of-hours assistance as required.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Network Engineer at Australian Retirement Trust (ART), you will play a pivotal role in designing, managing, and optimising our hybrid network infrastructure across cloud platforms, on-premises data centres, and multi-site office networks. You’ll ensure network performance, availability, and security meet business SLAs and align with corporate standards. This is a strategic role that supports ART’s growth through modernisation, automation, and innovation in network architecture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain network infrastructure in line with organisational standards, security policies, and industry best practices.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting across hybrid environments (GCP, Azure, on-premises, multi-site offices) to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Ensure compliance with change control processes and maintain accurate network documentation, including updates to ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Collaborate with vendors on licensing, procurement, support agreements, and maintenance costings.
  • Lead implementation of Network-as-Code practices to enable automation and integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and execution for network services.
  • Evaluate and maintain network monitoring tools across Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Deliver assigned work efficiently, on time, and within budget, maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
